Auto Maintenance FAQs

How often should I get my oil changed?
On average, vehicles are estimated to need an oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or every six months. This can vary based on your driving habits, your driving frequency, the age of your vehicle, and the quality of the oil you use. If you drive a newer vehicle, you might be able to safely wait a little longer between changes.
When Do You Need to Replace Your Brakes?
Unfortunately, there is no clear-cut schedule that tells you when it’s time to replace the brakes, so you need to rely on your ears and the advice of an experienced automotive technician. Most vehicles should have their tires rotated at least every six months, and that is a good time to have the brakes inspected, as well.
How serious is a timing chain issue?
A timing chain is one of the integral components of an internal combustion engine, without which efficient vehicle operations are impossible. Its failure can result in extensive engine damage costing the owner a fortune in repairs.
How do you know when your tires need replacing?
Place a penny upside down in between the tire tread as shown. If you can see the top of Lincoln's head, the treads are worn and tire replacement is needed. A quick and easy way to check your tire wear is with a tread depth gauge. It measures tire tread depth from 0 to 19/32 inch.
